Going nuts for Hazelnut House

Hi. Since I have an addiction for chocolate and the curiosity to try new places in Kuwait, I went to Hazelnut House located at Kipco Tower.

Its a small cafe with the cutest interior ever. I loved the fact that they encourage people to read more by putting shelves with a lovely collection of books that one can borrow as he/she enjoys their dessert and coffee.

This is the view from our table.

As we entered, we were welcomed with a very friendly waiter. He gave us the menus and he recommended we try the following dishes because it was hard to choose from the wide variety of desserts.

This is the Nutella Molten Cake. It was so good, it makes you smile. The molten cake was very soft and goowy and the inside was filled with nutella.

My order was the Cookie Cup which is their signature dish. You can choose your sauce to fill it with: white or milk chocolate. I went for sweet milk chocolate. The waiter comes and pours the chocolate sauce for you. It was amazing. I loved it because it was like a 2-in-1: a fondue with berries and a cookie. I'm officially the cookie princess (not monster! ;))

The way they offered the bill was also cute and creative. I thought the price of the food and service was reasonable.

Thank you @hazelnut_house for existing in this world. I plan on coming again because I have to try the rest of the menu.

Tea Time Lounge

Hi I recently went with my friend @_amj_ for lunch to a cafe at KIPCO Tower called The Tea Time Lounge.
We wanted to try some place new so we picked this cafe.

As I entered, I said Hi to the staff, but I was not greeted so well. The staff stood at the counter and just looked at me. I went in and picked a table and called them and said "a table for two please". She replied sit maam. To me this was unhospitable.

My friend arrived and we sat and asked for the menus. This is the menu.

An Ipad is always preferred because I like to see the dishes that I order. When we ordered a fellow waitor came to take our orders and for some reason he was in a bad mood. My friend asked him if he's ok, then he starting laughing and being friendly.

For the salad, we ordered the eggplant and mozzarella cheese salad with some balsamic vinegar. It was ok.
They served our main course straight after and we didn't eat the salad, because we didn't want our dishes to be cold when we eat them.

My lulu had two small dishes, one mac and cheese with mushroom. The other dish was a vegetable casserole in the oven. I liked the mac and cheese, but the other was a bit spicy for me.

My order was the pink pasta which was very yummy. I added the chicken to the dish.

What I loved about the place is their plates and decor. And most importantly the quite atmosphere. We were the only table and we enjoyed our time talking and laughing.

The price of the food was reasonably. I recommend you try the place and have a relaxing afternoon tea.

The opening of Dondurma Booz for Turkish icecream

Hi, Do you like Turkish booza? Have you ever tried Turkish Booza in Istanbul?
If not, no worries. The essence and taste of Turkey is right here in K-Town.

I recently visited the newly opened Dondurma Booz for Turkish icecream.
My auntie loves it and she even buys packets to go from the airport as souvenirs for Kuwait, so I thought of getting her some.

Their location is in Salmiya, Salem Al-Mubarark street (leave AUK University on your right and continue straight and you'll find it on your left).

 And this the place.

They have a small seating area in the shop and a couple of tables outside,on the terrace.

This gave me flashbacks of the time I was in Istanbul. Take your kids and experience the tricks they will do on you, until you take your icecream cone. They're so good at it and its so entertaining to watch it being done on someone else, not me :)

There are 4 flavours: vanilla with chocolate chips, pistachio, vanilla and chocolate.

My favourite is the pistachio and chocolate. It's so yummy and rich.

Treat yourself and try their icecream.

Wishs

Hi, in Ramadhan, I received a care package from a new home based business from Wishs. It was a very sweet gesture, but I had to try the food and judge it critically before publishing a post.

The packing was nice and simple

They sent me some cookies, which were very tasty and generously filled with chocolate. And I also like soft and chewy cookies.

And red velvet Molten cakes. I'm not a big fan of red velvet molten, but this one is soft and delicious.

And also vine leaves. It was mouth wateringly yummy. If you like lemon and zesty vine leaves, go for it.

A disected view of the red velvet molten, by me!

Thank you wish's and I wish you the best of luck.

If you have a party or gathering and don't know what to get, call wish's and rest assured that they'll love it.

Cloud 9 Pancakes

Just like there's a cookie monster (on Sesame street), I am the pancake monster. Therefore, any new place serving pancakes, I'm there. At Al-Zahra Co-op, there is a new both called Cloud 9 serving mini pancakes. I followed them on the instagram and was reading people's comments, when one comment just striked me and stood out. One person called the mini pancakes as "yummy pillows" loool, and my reaction was I have to try it.
This is their both. I went there and I was greeted in a nice way by the chef as he took my order.
And these are the pancakes in the making.
He was even nice to let my try and flip the pancakes. It's not as easy at it looks.
A happy customer being served

And that's my delicious order

They have different toppings that you may choose from caramel, nesquik chocolate sauce, nutella, maple syrup, strawberry, kraft cheese, whipping cream and castor sugar.
If you like salty pancakes, try them with kraft cheese.
Or go for classic maple syrup and strawberries.

Some people's orders can really get messy, but its your stomach not mine.

I am all for advocating and supporting small Kuwaiti businesses. But honestly, they are yummy and addictive to the point that I leave the gym and I head for a plate of pancakesfor dinner, Useless!
One thing I really admire about the owner is that she's hands on. She's always there with a big smile on her face and she even helps out and serves customers. I wish her the best of luck and it was a pleasure seeing you again. ESG graduates are the best girls.

If you're interested, they do cater for birthdays and parties.
Pay them a visit at Al-Zahra Co-op and enjoy.

The Pastry Shop

Yesterday I tried the pies at pastry shop. It's a home based business and just recently they have a both at AlShamiya Coop. A dear friend of mine recommended it, so I thought of tasting it.
This is their both

This is their menu and the pies they make.

And this is my box of goodies.
The flavours i choose are the most requested and most popular ones.
The top left is the srawberry pie, the top right is the lemon pie, the bottom left is the apple pie and the bottom right is the pecan pie.
First, i tried the apple pie. It's ok, but i thought that the crust of the pastry was a bit soft. I like it crispier and more cinnamony. But that's my opinion, my friend loves it. Note, the apples they use are green apples.
Then comes the pecan pie which is my favourie. Its just simply yummy. I love the texture and just was right for me. Of course, so i dont get a sugar rush a bit of each was more than enough. Since i became i blogger, i transformed into a food taster and gained a few pounds. Not a good sign loool.
I had to try the lemon, because i was curious about the taste. I personally don't think citris fruits work well in desserts and I wasn't fond of this pie. I felt that it was sour and citricy. I bet there are people who may like it.
Last but not least, the strawberry i liked it, because i'm a very berry person. To me it was more of a tart than a conventional pie, but it was good.
They have more flavours that i didn't try, like the berry pie and the banana pie.
Thank you pastry shop and I wish you the best of luck.

give it a go and tell me what you think.
The both at Shamiya co-op is open from 10:00-2:00/ 5:00-10:00.
