Going nuts for Hazelnut House

Hi. Since I have an addiction for chocolate and the curiosity to try new places in Kuwait, I went to Hazelnut House located at Kipco Tower.

 

Its a small cafe with the cutest interior ever. I loved the fact that they encourage people to read more by putting shelves with a lovely collection of books that one can borrow as he/she enjoys their dessert and coffee.

As we entered, we were welcomed with a very friendly waiter. He gave us the menus and he recommended we try the following dishes because it was hard to choose from the wide variety of desserts.

 

This is the Nutella Molten Cake. It was so good, it makes you smile. The molten cake was very soft and goowy and the inside was filled with nutella.

 

My order was the Cookie Cup which is their signature dish. You can choose your sauce to fill it with: white or milk chocolate. I went for sweet milk chocolate. The waiter comes and pours the chocolate sauce for you. It was amazing. I loved it because it was like a 2-in-1: a fondue with berries and a cookie. I'm officially the cookie princess (not monster! ;))

 



The way they offered the bill was also cute and creative. I thought the price of the food and service was reasonable.

 

Thank you @hazelnut_house for existing in this world. I plan on coming again because I have to try the rest of the menu.

Tea Time Lounge

Hi I recently went with my friend @_amj_ for lunch to a cafe at KIPCO Tower called The Tea Time Lounge.
We wanted to try some place new so we picked this cafe.

As I entered, I said Hi to the staff, but I was not greeted so well. The staff stood at the counter and just looked at me. I went in and picked a table and called them and said "a table for two please". She replied sit maam. To me this was unhospitable.

My friend arrived and we sat and asked for the menus. This is the menu.

 

An Ipad is always preferred because I like to see the dishes that I order. When we ordered a fellow waitor came to take our orders and for some reason he was in a bad mood. My friend asked him if he's ok, then he starting laughing and being friendly.

 

 For the salad, we ordered the eggplant and mozzarella cheese salad with some balsamic vinegar. It was ok.
They served our main course straight after and we didn't eat the salad, because we didn't want our dishes to be cold when we eat them.

 

My lulu had two small dishes, one mac and cheese with mushroom. The other dish was a vegetable casserole in the oven. I liked the mac and cheese, but the other was a bit spicy for me.

 

 My order was the pink pasta which was very yummy. I added the chicken to the dish.

 

What I loved about the place is their plates and decor. And most importantly the quite atmosphere. We were the only table and we enjoyed our time talking and laughing.

The price of the food was reasonably. I recommend you try the place and have a relaxing afternoon tea.

Lunch at Mix Berries Lounge

Hi, I hope you've read my previous post on Mix Berries Lounge, that was before their official opening. Now, I'm back to taste the food on their new menu.

First, we arrived and there was our table.

 

My friends and I look into every detail, and we loved the layout of the menu and how it was divided into cute little sections, like hungry? and thirsty? It's very creative and the pictures of the food really help you visualize your dish.

 

For starters, we had the mix berries salad. It was ok.

 

And the dynamite shrimp, which I liked. The dynamite sauce was very nice, and spicy of course.

 

And some wedges potatoes. My friend really enjoyed those.

As for the main course, we had the original burger. I thought it was very tasty. The burger was juicy and the sauce tastes delicious.

 

And the Angus steak. It was good and most importantly, the meat was not chewy, a big must for me.

 

Saving the best for last, we also ordered the Dmaar burger which is their best selling dish. It was totally worth it. It stood for its reputation so well. I loved the pomegranate with the burger, its a nice combination. I love bread and thought the bun was very soft. My friends preferred this over the original burger, but to me they were both really delicious.

 

For sweet, we were treated with some nutella crepes on the house in celebration of my friend's birthday. Happy belated birthday my lulu @_amj_ Thank you mixberries for making that day so special.

 

 

They were heavenly good. Or as someone once said, its like they escaped from heaven and came to our table. (Its a metaphor for how good someting tastes).

 

 

All in all, a great experience, great food and a great place to lounge with friends. After this tasting, I really do belive they cook with love. I sensed their passion for their work and their care for the customers.

 

Next time you're there, please try our dish "Atayef Crepe" and let us know what you think.

Porch cafe

Hi, Did you try the new Porch Cafe?
I did. Porch cafe is a cafe owner by the Kuwaiti retail store, Deer & Dear.
It is located in the Avenues Mall near their store Deer & Dear, and the men's Spa Time.

I went my blogger friends for dinner.

 

 The menu is considered an international one, and has many different dishes.

 

 This is the seating area. It is conveniently located in a quiet place.

 

 I loved their decor and rustic feel.

 

 First of, the bread basket and olives. It was so fresh and warm, I couldn't resist.

 

The chicken caesar salad was very tasty and I loved the dressing.

 

 For cold starters, we have the mountain of eggplant. It was not so great because I prefer it hot.

 

The mozarella balls were perfect. We also had a creamy fettucini pasta and mushroom with the porch cafe sauce which was also delicious.

 

We ordered mint tea, and some bread pudding to surprise the birthday girl @_amj_ because its her favourite.

 

They offered us a tasting of their new tiramisu, which will be on the menu soon. It was very smooth and mild and perfectly sweetened.

 

I adored the box they created for the cheque, it has character and shows the identity of the cafe, Kuwaiti. I recommend you all go and try it out.

My friends and I liked the cafe, the atmosphere, the service and the food. And I hope to visit them again soon and taste the items on the menu that I didn't get to try.

Mix Berries Lounge

Dear students, we found the perfect place for you.

Mix Berries lounge is a student-friendly cafe. Conveniently, it is located in Salmiya next to the AUK. It has free wifi and is fully equipment with high tec laptops on every table and a printer too, for all you lazy people out there!

Yesterday, I went with my blogger friend @_amj_ to check the place out. Since it isn't officially open yet, we were the only people there (an added bonus since we like to give you exclusive updates) so we have the opportunity to take a tour of the place and take loads of photos.

For the time being, Mix Berries cafe offers frozen yoghurt (and the flavours are original, mango and berries), frozen cheesecake and frozen yogurt cheesecake (which is exclusively found at mix berries) and crepes, which can be both salty or sweet, depending on the toppings you choose.

حالياً، يقدم الكافيه الفروزن يوغرت بنكهات اربعة:المانجا، الاوريجينال(الاصلية)، التوت والباشن فروت، ويقدم التشيزكيك وفروزن يوغرت كيك، اضافةً إلى الكريب، واللي ممكن يكون مالح او حلو حسب الرغبة.

One thing I'm keen about in any place I dine in, is hygeine, which I observed at their place. All the toppings were covered with a lid and not left open. Another thing I liked is that they had an expiry date label on top of each so they don't overuse a topping or refilled it randomly.

من الاشياء اللي لفتت نظرنا نظافة المكان ، الفواكة والمكسرات اللي تنحط على الفروزن يوغرت مغطية ومكتوب على العلبة تاريخ الانتهاء، وبهالطريقة راح تضمن ان اللي تاكله يكون طازج.

 

Its a two storey cafe, and the main seating area is upstair (there are a couple of tables downstairs too).

الكافيه من طابقين، والطابق العلوي هو الطابق الرئيسي اللي فيه طاولات اكثر من الطابق السفلي

 

 The place is modern and cozy.

I absolutely adored the skylights. Even though we went at night, I could imagine how lovely it would look at daytime, and the sun shining in and brightening the place.

من اللمسات الجميلة في ديكور الكافيه الأسقف الزجاجية، صحيح ان احنا رحنا بالليل ، بس ممكن نتخيل المكان الصبح راح يكون شرح 

 

The days when you used to carry your laptops around are over. The laptops are neatly placed in between the chairs.

The ever so kind owner, Mr. Rashed Al-Shargawi was very generous and made our visit the most memorable. He offered us their Arabic coffee, which I liked. If you're a fan of Arabic coffee, try out their Yemeni coffee. 

كان السيد راشد الشرقاوي غاية في الكرم وقدم لنا القهوة العربية من اليمن، فإذا كنتم من محبينها ننصحكم بتجربتها.

وبفضله كانت تجربة "ميكس بيري لاونج " لا تُنسى!

 

 

I have some news: the best surprise is that we will have a dish under our name in their new menu. So stay tuned. Thank you mixberries for the opportunity and we will be honoured.

 

Overall, I loved the place and its unique yet new concept and I can't wait for their opening soon inshallah. Wish you the best of luck.
