Maldives ............... continued

Hi, this is part 2 of our trip to maldives.

 Maldives is a Muslim country.

It consists of 26 atolls and 1196 islands. It is famous for diving because of its breath taking coral reefs and amazing fish species.

The water is incredibly clear and the most beautiful I've ever seen.

The weather was 25-27 degrees celcius in the afternoon with some light winds, but nice and cool at night.

First thing we saw when we woke up, was a welcoming gift from the hotel. Thank you for the kind gesture.

At the Vihamana restaurant, we had our breakfast buffet.

The hotel has a number of restaurants and different cuisines:
1. Vihamana: breakfast buffet.
2. Ocean grill: specialized in seafood.
3. Hamakaze: sushi
The Hamakaze overlooking the sea
4. Al Qasr: Middles Eastern food.
5. Kurumba Mahal: Indian cuisine.
6. Ming Court: Eastern restaurant.
7. La Cuina: Italain.
8. Kurumba Cafe: sandwiches and burgers. It overlooks the main pool.
9. Beach Bar: drinks on the beautiful sea.
10. Sand Bar: cocktails and drinks on the sand and ovelooking the clear sea.
11. Rendezvous Lounge: closed air-conditioned lounge next to the reception area.
12. Sounds of the sea: an arranged dinner for honeymoners by the sea, with a private butler at hand.

You have to book prior for a candlelight dinner like this.

13. Room service.

Hotel Amenities:

There are two pools

This is the big pool located at the center of the Island and most of the restaurants are located around it.

This is the second pool and its smaller in size. We swam in this pool beacuse it was right behind our bangalow and it was quieter and quite private.

They have two souvenir shops that sell all sorts of maldivian goods (from swim suits and water proof cameras to pens). On day 1, we had to go hat shopping to look the part ;)

This is the water sports center, where you can rent paddle boats or book to go parasailing.

 The stand up paddle boat.

The hotel also has a 24 hour gym. Yeah this is how you work out using a gym ball!

A tennis court and a volleyball court can be accessed free of charge.

Last but not least, the hotel has a recreation center, which is open at night. Since things get quiet after the sunset, some place to hangout and play becomes needed. It has a table tennis, table football, air hockey.

One of the things I liked about our hotel is that they cleaned our rooms twice a day. And every evening, they placed a timetable on the bed of all the activities and trips that will take place the next day, which helped us plan our schedule for the whole trip.

This is a brief overview of our hotel, Kurumba Maldives
Stay tuned for part 3, our diving and snorkeling trip and the dolphins cruise.
