Today, I was very pleased to visit CAP and check Tajreed, an exhibition of abstract art across Arabia.
CAP is acronym for Contemporary Art Platform. It's a non-profit art centre for the promotion of modern and contemporary art. Through its exhibitions, lectures, and film screenings, CAP offers an encouraging arena for artists, amateurs and art lovers to engage, explore, and further appreciate art.
CAP is in Shuwaikh industrial area, block 2, in Life Center where Midas is.
Here are some pictures of our artistic excursion, along with some artwork that I particularly liked:
This nice seating area is outside the gallery
These shelves are next to the seating area

About CAP
And we kick off our tour
Bronze sculpture by Dia Al-Azzawi
Dia Al-Azzawi, acrylic on canvas
Amine Al-Basha, oil on canvas
Aref Rayess, Fantastic Orientale, oil on canvas
The art library area
Here's the scene outside, not bad for industrial Shuwaikh
Bronze by Saloua Raouda Choucair
Mona Saudi, The Carob Tree, marble
Mahjoub Ben Bella, Griffures, acrylic on canvas
Farid Belkahia, composition
Moustafa Fathi, mixed media on canvas
This was my very first time to see Adonis, not as a poet, but an artist. I'm a fan of his poetry, not of his recent political stances! However, I did like these works. Mixed media on cardboard and wood panel
Mohamed Kacimi, Babel, acrylic on canvas
Here's the exit door
Across the tables, right next to CAP, you'll find JAMM. another non-profit art centre, where artwork by the Iraqi artist, Mohammed Sami was displayed. Here are some pictures
Here's Ahmed Al-Shammeri, a curator at JAMM, with whom we had a quick chat on the status of art in Kuwait. Though the art scene in Kuwait is in real need of revival, however, I think efforts of centres like CAP and JAMM are a great step towards that!
Tajreed ends tomorrow! So hurry up art lovers and check it out!
